Regional Infant Hearing Program (RIHP)

What is it?

FCLC operates a six county early intervention program, the Regional Infant Hearing Program (RIHP) for infants and toddlers with hearing loss and their families. The RIHP program is grounded in the philosophy of family-centered care and community-based services. It works in collaboration with several other early intervention and early childhood service programs. This program is one of ten regional programs in the state of Ohio, funded through the Ohio Department of Health, Bureau of Early Intervention Services. RIHP provides a range of services to more than 60 children between birth and three years of age. These services include: information regarding the impact that being deaf or hard-of-hearing has on speech and language development, information regarding hearing aids, cochlear implants, and communication options, strategies to promote auditory and communication skills, and links to community resources and additional service providers.

Who is eligible?

Infants and toddlers with an identified hearing loss and their families who live in Carroll, Columbiana, Mahoning, Portage, Summit, and Stark counties.

What does it cost?

This project is funded through the Ohio Department of Health, Bureau of Early Intervention Services, so there is no cost to families.
